Makalausfjellet

Makalaus is a relatively short hike that is great for children. The entire hike is about 4-5km. 

How do you get there?

From Bjørkestølen, drive to Merket, and follow the toll road inland towards Pardis. 
Turn right towards Eidvasstølen and park on the side of the road on the left just before
the road ends.

Jettegrytene

Jettegrytene is a child-friendly hike of about 2km in total. 

How do you get there? 

Drive towards Merket and follow the toll road towards Pardis. 
At the south end of the lake, turn right towards Kinn. After 2.9 km the road
splits at a large turning area and you keep left. Parking at the end of the road.

Grønnsennknippa

A fantastic and family-friendly hike of about 10km. Great views, and nice trails! 

How do you get there? 

From Bjørkestølen, drive in at Jokern and towards Nøsen (Panoramavegen).
Drive a little past Rennsennvatnet and park at Nøsakampen.

Gribbe

Gribbe is a family-friendly hike of about 4km in total if you drive up to Gjølmyr. You can also walk from Bjørkestølen, then the hike will be about 12km in total. 

How do you get there? 

By car: Drive up by the church, towards Gjølmyr (toll road). Parking is a bit difficult, 
but you can drive up to the right, towards Gribbe, and find a spot along the road. On foot from the campsite: Go past Joker, and towards the church. Follow the signs to Gjølmyr,
and eventually turn right towards Gribbe. Follow the signs. You can also walk to Joker, and further up to Brattstølen. Follow the signs further inland. (https://ut.no/turforslag/1111726511/gribbe)

Hermannstølen

The Hermannstøl route is a round trip of about 10km. It goes on a gravel road and a tractor road. 

How do you get there? 

From the campsite, go to Joker, and continue towards Brattstølen. Follow the gravel road. 
When it starts to go downhill, and you have been going downhill for a while, you will come
to a sign on the left. Here it says, among other things, about the Stølsruta. If you want to
walk the Stølsruta, go right into the path. If you want to continue towards Bjørkestølen, you
turn off the road and continue on the tractor road that slopes to the left. Follow this all the
way down to the main road, and take the love path back.

Runesteinen

Just a short km from Bjørkestølen is the runestone. 

From the campsite, walk towards Merket, and turn right onto Fjellheimvegen.
Turn off the road to the left after about 70m, and the ski slope trail turns left.
Walk this for a while until you come to a path that goes right at the top of the Merkeslia
field. Follow the path and the blue color. Inside the forest you will see a stump that has a
blue mark on it, follow this, and in a little while you will be there.

Nystølsvarden

Nystølsvarden is a great hike of about 9km in total. Great for the whole family! 

How do you get there?

From the FV51 towards Gol, turn off at Brenn marked Nystølsfjellet (toll road).
Drive about 5 km to the parking lot at Varhovd. Good trail, which is marked from the
parking lot and you follow it all the way up to Nystølsvarden.
