Hærevatn
This is a great ski trip of about 12 km. You can do a loop,
or you can turn around and take the same way back. From Bjørkestølen,
you follow the ski trail along the outer edge of Merkeslia Cabin Area
until you reach the main trail. There you turn right. Then you just follow
the ski trail. It is signposted at the intersections you come to.
(You just need to go straight ahead).
Hestmyra
On the way to Hærevatnet you will find the
Hestmyr-runda. Then you turn left at the sign
for Hærevatnet (about 2km from Bjørkestølen).
The entire loop is about 8km. Here you will
ride wide trails so it is possible to try
skating and skiing.
Flat and nice trail - perfect for children!
Haugsetfjellet
From Bjørkestølen you first go to Hærevatnet.
Then you turn left and follow the trails inland
towards Haugsetfjellet. You can choose to
take several detours as there are many
intersecting trails, but the regular trail
returns a little below Hærevatnet. A good tip
might be to walk Flåstølen back to Bjørkestølen.
Gribbe
At Gribbe you have a panoramic view over
Hemsedal and Jotunheimen. Here you can choose
to walk from Bjørkestølen, or you can take the
car and drive up at Lakkegata (toll road). F
rom Bjørkestølen there will be a few meters
of elevation gain, but it will be all the more
enjoyable on the way back.
Breiset/Liaset
On the way to Breiset you can drive up
to Tisleidalen Church, up to Gjølmyr
(toll road), and further into Liaset.
Here you can park your car and walk
inland towards Breiset. It is quite
flat and has a fantastic view. From Liaset
to Breiset it is about 10km. Here you can choose
whether you want to take a round trip around
Gribbe or turn around and go back the same way.
